How Led Zeppelin (and the Greats) Shaped HC Visuals
Music, Art, and the DNA of HC Visuals
How Led Zeppelin (and the Greats) Shaped HC Visuals probably seems like a very strange concept for a wedding blog, i’ll admit. But let me explain. Long before I picked up a camera and started my journey as a wedding videographer, I picked up a guitar. Music has always been my first love, I studied it in college and university, played in bands for decades, and became an accomplished musician in my own right.
That passion eventually led me to filmmaking. I started out making music videos, and that creative journey, fuelled by Covid Youtube binges on the sofa on all things filmmaking, naturally evolved into filming weddings.
But when I first stepped into the wedding film industry, something felt… off.
I saw two main styles dominating the space: sentimental, slow-moving wedding films dripping in nostalgia, and chaotic, ‘alternative’ edits that felt more like a highlight reel than a story. To me, both were missing something. They didn’t fully capture what a wedding feels like.

The Power of Dynamics – A Whisper to the Thunder
When defining my style, I tapped into my background in music and was reminded of something Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin once said:
“Dynamics… Light and shade… A whisper to the thunder. It invites you in… It’s intoxicating.”
That quote stuck with me. Because at the core of any great piece of art—whether it’s a song, a painting, or a film—is dynamics.
Light and shade. Quiet moments contrasted with the loud. The build-up before the release. This is what makes music powerful, and it’s what makes films immersive. If a wedding day is full of love, excitement, nerves, laughter, and wild dance floor energy, then why should a wedding film only capture one of those feelings?

Same wedding. Different energy. My films are all about showcasing the day you curate, the fun moments with friends, family, and each other – as well as the softer, tender moments.

Creating Wedding Films That Take You on a Journey
I get so bored of seeing the same wedding film over and over again appear on my instagram feed. Opening drone shot, into another drone shot, into a slow motion hand in hand walking shot, the couples name fades in, in a small delicate font, rinse, yawn, repeat. It’s so hard to distinguish who is even making these films anymore as they all feel like clones of one another.
This is all great if that is what you want, and that is what your vision of what a wedding film should be. You are very well served. There are plenty of people batch cooking these wedding films out there in the industry.
At HC Visuals, I don’t do cookie-cutter wedding films. I don’t use templates, and I don’t impose a pre-set style onto your day.
Instead, I craft unique, authentic wedding films that mirror the highs, the fun, the romance, and everything in between. Films that feel cinematic, raw, and real—because your story deserves more than a formulaic edit.
If you’re looking for a wedding videographer who just gets it, and won’t force your day into a tired, overused format, then let’s make something remarkable together.
